Fallen Angel
She has marked the grave of Eldora Rohovitz, who died April 14, 1916, at
the tender age of eight. But last week, like a number of older stones in
the Muscoda and St. John's Cemeteries, she fell, the victim of apparent
vandals, wings shattered, but still clutching the flowers.
Some of the monuments that were broken off have stood for more than 100
years. It is thought the damage was done Thursday night of last week.
Local police counted 11 damaged monuments.
It has been pointed out by a member of the cemetery board that some of
the stones that were damaged are very heavy and the vandalism of them
could pose a danger to the perpetrators of the damage.
