>From the obituary of Jane Maria Hoyt:
>From the obituary:
DEATH OF MRS. R.W. LELAND, Mrs. R.W. Leland died Sunday night at her home
in the town of Union, after a lingering illness. She is survived by her
husband... ... All of the surviving sons and daughters were present to
the bedside when the end came, except Mrs. Southmayd, who was unavoidably
detained at Lexington. Mrs Sharp is accompanied by her husband.
The Deceased, Mrs. Jane Hoyt Leland, was born in Leteet, New Brunswick,
Dec.28, 1829, and was consequently in her 80th year. She was married to
R.W. Leland in December 1849 in New Brunswick. They came to Wisconsin and
to Eau Claire in 1855 and settled on the farm in the Town of Union where
they have ever since resided. Mrs. Leland was the last member of her immediate
family, all her brothers and sisters having passed away -- two brothers
dying within the last year.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock from the
residence in the town of Union. The Rev. Edward Babcock officiating. Mrs
Leland was a charter member of the Eau Clarie Baptist church, and it is
believed was the only surviving charter member thereof."
I have more...and am looking for more.
