Thank you very much, I believe you found my ancestor!!! This matches with the info from the 1880 census. The only child they had in Prussia was Wilhelmina; the rest were born in Green Lake county, Wisconsin! The 3 Griese you found in Grand Forks county, North Dakota were Karl's 3 sons: Herman, Charles, and August, all with the right ages and names. Charles was my GGrandfather. So now I know WHERE they are from: Cranzin, Arnswalde. Do you know anything of the history of the Neumark, and the Neumarkers? What were these people like? This opens up new lines of opportunity for me!! Thanks again. If you have any information on Brandenburg, Brandenburgers, how they were, how they lived, what they ate, did, etc. let me know.
