First off, I am researching BONN and PESTER in Kenosha. If anyone has
any ties to either of these families, please email me :)
Regarding my BONN line, I have been trying to find out things about my
grandfather for years. I just recently got snail mail from a relative
that cleared up some things, but made other things more confusing. My
grandfather was the illegitimate son of Frances Catherine BONN (he took
her surname -- he was Francis Henry BONN) and a previously unknown
father. Apparently in the 70's, this relative of mine and her mother
went to the parish to get some records, and they *inadvertently* gave
them a copy of a document that stated my grandfather's father's name.
What was told to me was that the priest ended up calling them, very
angry, saying the secretary made a mistake and gave them some sealed
information (I guess no one was supposed to know the father's name?).
So, my question is... now that I have this information that was
supposedly secret, can I find out more, or should I just let it lie? I
would love to trace back this man's family (considering I share blood),
but he has a name that is somewhat common, and I wouldn't know how to
find out which would actually be the correct person.
Any tips?
Thanks!
