How right you are! It would be perfect. I know there would be so much more
available if people could put up their own data easily. That would really
make a killer county site, wouldn't it?
You are right about the boards and the lists at RootsWeb. I have had
announcements about the county site pulled because they were not 'genealogy
queries'. I had to create a yahoo group just to send out announcements
about the sites.
Unfortunately after working last night trying to make sense of the available
Wikis, I am ready to give up. But the NationalArchive wiki is friendly
looking, attractive and seems to be easy. I know the WeRelate site is
through a library [Allen County, IN], donations and gov. grants so it will
be free, which is the only thing I offer recommendations for on the sites.
Pay sites can advertise themselves. The other wiki site mentioned on the
list I don't know anything about. My question is, why are they so
complicated?
I usually just leave the building when the ownership/copyright issue comes
up anymore. And it always comes up.
Now I'm not all that interested in 'personal' wiki anymore ! :o)
I have ideas. Now I need the skill.....
