Well, the off-topic exchange about Ancestry.com actually did have
some valuable merit, John, so don't feel too bad.

It had me re-familiarize myself with WeRelate (which I fear I have
sometimes confused with GenWiki-- My apologies to Dallan et al.)

I have a profile over there and I uploaded two trees last July.

The problem is there is no easy way to update, all at once, a GEDCOM.
With WorldConnect, I simply replace my old GEDCOM with a new one.
On WeRelate, I have to delete my old tree, then upload the new one,
but as the help pages say:

"Note that using this approach, pages in your tree that others have
started watching will not be deleted and will need to be merged with
your newly-created pages later. We expect to have this issue resolved
by the end of this year."

There is also no current way to export my uploaded GEDCOM-- again,
promises for a later date.

Between these two, this is a show-stopper for me. It tells me that
basically, WeRelate-- and perhaps GenWiki as well-- was created for
people who are DONE with their research and are using the Wiki to
"publish". I doubt I'll ever be done. And I have absolutely no
interest or time in maintaining my data in two places.

So while I like the idea of WeRelate-- and the community building
there is great-- the tools for managing and updating data just aren't
ready for prime time by this particular user.

If I'm missing something-- some new developments that are not yet
reflected in the Help pages-- I'd be happy to hear about it.
