I have not looked to see if Abraham's wife was living with her family. She
was an Amyx, so I will have to check that. The child was an infant. I
think the problem was the length of time it took to enumerate the people in
this mountain area - and the census takers did not in reality abide by the
rule of "everyone living in this household on June 1." It took them months
to count these people - on horseback. The fact that Abraham moved across
the line into Hawkins County meant that a different person enumerated the
family there, at a later date. However, they were probably not living very
far from their families. The War Creek area of Hancock County, where the
Wilders lived, was very near the Hawkins Co line. Just down the trail, so
to speak.
