Oh my Gosh, Ted!!!!! I'm sure I don't even start to have all of
them in my databases, and never counted them; however, I know
that I have at least a couple dozen in my main lines !!!!!
I'll tell you how bad (or good) it is up in Washington and Greene
Counties, TN. Today if a BROYLES and WILHOIT marry, you can
be assured they are cousins at least 2 or 3 ways. (GRIN) My
mother's brother, a BROYLES from Washington County, married a
WILHOIT from Greene County. A couple years ago I did some
digging on the Greene County WILHOIT lines and found out that
they were indeed related. My uncle's wife, the WILHOIT, was 3rd
cousin to my uncle's father (my grandfather). To top it all off,
the mother of the WILHOIT wife was a BOWMAN, and that line
had also married back and forth with both BROYLES & WILHOIT.
I'll look through the databases and see how many I can find. Heck,
if you go back to the 1717 immigration and start forward, you will
find many such marriages in the 1700's and early 1800's. They
didn't wait until they had all migrated to TN, they started it back in
Germanna and other VA areas.
It is interesting though. Maybe other's on here will search through
their files and see how many they have. Actually I think I am my
own cousin several times, considering all the "removes". (GRIN)
Nice to see some email here for a change,
