I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the LDS' site, but I just
discovered an area of it that I had not been using until now.

If you go to the Custom Seach tab, you will see a link to the Family History
Library Catalog. There you can do a surname, place, or misc search. I put in
Wilkinson and got 157 hits.

If the book or manuscript has been microfilmed, you can order the film
through a local LDS Family History Center for a small charge. Not all of the
results will have been microfilmed, but it may be possible to locate the
book through an interlibrary loan....Something I am not sure about.

For example, I found was this one:

"The Allisons of Pennsylvania (1750 to 1997) and Wilkinsons of England and
America (1650-1997) : ancestors and descendants of Ann Ramsey and Robert
Allison II" by Patricia Murphy Hemphill, call number: 929.273 AL56h
John Horace Allison was born in Illinois in 1842. He served in the Civil
War after the death of both his parents. He married Mary Butler Wilkinson
and they were the parents of four children. Information on many of their
descendants, siblings, and ancestors is given in this volume written by
their great granddaughter. Descendants now live in Illinois, Florida,
California, and elsewhere.

Anyway, I just found this new toy and thought I would share with you

Meg
