Hello and a happy new year,
After visiting this list on behalf of an in-law some time back, I now find
some roots of my own in Wiltshire - Jane LEVER born 1818 in Ansty, father
Lot LEVER, given as a farmer on Jane's marriage certificate in 1846, (when
she married Henry SCHUSLER in Pierrepoint Place Catholic Chapel, Bath,
Somerset.)
Looking at the Wiltshire rootsweb archive messages, I see mention that Ansty
records are scarce and poor quality. Can someone enlighten me please as to
the existence of records which may enable me to glean information on this
line? I have Jane's whereabouts for the 1851 census but do not know yet if
Lot was still around. If anyone is able to do look ups I would hope to
reciprocate (resources I hold are at the end of this message - many parts of
England & Wales - we were a mobile family!).
The only other lead I have at the moment are some possible entries on the
IGI for Ansty:-
1.Lot LEVER m. Katherine WOODS
2.Lot LEVER m. Martha BURROUGHS
3.Lot LEVER christened to Luke and Robina LEVER
may be linked but I don't know as yet.
Would love to hear from anyone who can point me in the right direction also
for any social/economic/historical background to the area.
Ta!
Jill
