Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me with the following 2 queries I have received
about Registration entries in Wiltshire
1I have just been asked if the birth of a lady allegedly born in
Salisbury, Wilts in 1845/46, could be registered in Pewsey, Wilts in the
Sept 1845 quartile. In other words can the birth be registered in a
different Registry area that the one she was born in?
Since the basic information comes from both the 1851 and the 1881 Census
returns as well as on a GRO record, I was going to reply that it may be the
usual "I can't remember where I was born or don't want to" problem on the
Census return, but just in case I am wrong it would be helpful if someone
could give me the definitive answer so that I can explain it to someone else
in greater detail?
2Question 2 relates to the same lady who was apparently married by
License in the district of Alderbury, Wilts in 1874. Is it okay for her to
have no information at all about either her, or her husband's, father and
their occupations shown on the Marriage Certificate?
I have seen a father shown as deceased but not as a blank so far?
