Subject: Racine cemeteries and directories
Date: Sat, 5 Feb 2000 20:57:12 -0800
Hi, everyone. I'm still looking for a death record for Charles William
BOESEN in Racine in 1878, 1879, or 1880.
I've tried without any luck: the State Historical Society, the Racine
Museum, LDS and the archdiocese for the church he attended, and newspaper
microfilms. I do have his 1874 marriage record (to Alice GORMLEY) and a
birth record for son, Harvey, in 1877.
The church gave me a list of Racine cemeteries, but they did not indicate
which were Catholic and which might have been used by parishioners of the
St. Patrick Catholic Church in Racine. Could anyone on the list suggest a
likely cemetery or cemeteries? Do the cemeteries have records of people
buried there and will they check them if contacted by mail or phone?
Another suggestion from the church was checking a full set of directories to
see when he stopped appearing in them. (He is in the 1875 directory on line
at the GenWeb site.) Were the directories published every year? Does the
Racine public library have a set? Would they check them for me if I wrote or
called?
I'd appreciate any advice. His death is one of my biggest mysteries.
