Victor A. Tadych

Victor A. Tadych, age 95, of 2210 Markham St., Manitowoc, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, Dec. 2, 2007.

He was born on May 29, 1912, in Manitowoc, son of the late France and Cecelia (Matcznski) Tadych. On Jan. 7, 1939, he married the former Eleanore Blaszkiewicz at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. She preceded him in death on July 21, 2000. Victor and his wife worked side by side at Fairview Super Market on North 21st and Rankin streets for 30 years, until his retirement in 1970, when his son Jerry took over. Victor continued to work part-time until 1995. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 710, and was one of the original board of directors of the Manitowoc County Bank. Victor was a member of the St. Mary's Yong Men's Club, and a charter member of the Holy Innocents Men's Choir.

Survivors include: a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bob Nelson, Manitowoc; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim and Pat Tadych, Brillion, Jerry and Nancy Tadych, Manitowoc, Dr. Robert Tadych, Long Beach, Calif., and Dave and Diane Tadych, Iron Mountain, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, Heather (Charles) Doucette, Trent Nelson, Mike (Pam) Tadych, Marc (Carol) Tadych, Christopher Tadych, Brittany Flick, Jon (Cathy) Tadych, Tracy (Randy) Wojta, Daniel Tadych, Mandi (Wayne) Hurkmans and Jessie, Lindsey and Kendall Tadych; 11 great-grandchildren, Joey, Heather, Erin, Illyana, Nathan, Jenna, Samantha, Brycen, Colton, Owen and Madysen. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by: four brothers, Ted, Felix, Henry and Stanley Tadych; and three sisters, Sophie Peashek, Francis Kohls and Rose Beck.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dan Felton, with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends at The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. led by Deacon Paul Kieffer.

Friends may also call on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Vic was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be sadly missed by his family and friends. he is no happy in Heaven with the Lord, and having Christmas with his loving Eleanore.
