I found this reference in a book titled Georgia Genealogical Gems, Special
Publication 48. The book was published by the National Genealogical Society
in Washington, DC - sorry, but I failed to note the date of publication.

The reference was in a section called "Deeds and Grants, Burker County, GA,
1768-1835" and which presented abstracts of 56 deeds that had been found in
the City Museum of Augusta, GA:

5 Jan 1803 Philip Jenkins to Randal McDaniel, 300 acres next to
Robert Randelson and Benj. Green. Granted to Benj. Green 1 June 1789. Wit:
Wm Witherington, James McDaniel John Sharp, J.P.

We really do need some sort of project to separate and track the myriad of
William Witheringtons.
