Thank you for all of your comments about the John Jones'.
Yes I do know how many John Jones' there are and it is an seemingly impossible task. We see that on the faces of the staff at the Caernarfon Archives when we make our annual pilgrimage . We have been trying for four years and I thought that I would give it another try on the list as some new Jones may have joined.
It is my grandfather , John Robert Jones , who I am trying to find.I know that he was born in 1864 possibly in Behesda or Bangor and that he had a sister Dorothy. His father was another John Jones (slate merchant).
He did go to Liverpool to be an apprentice bookbinder at what age we don't know. There he met and married my grandmother,Ann Hughes, and the family moved to West Bromwich in 1901 where he died at the age of 47 in 1912. . We tend his grave in our local churchyard.
We can find no trace of his birth in Bethesda or Bangor in St. Catherines Index.
By the way we also have a Hugh Hughes.
Regards Mike Jones, Great Barr, Birmingham.
