Alwyn,

Some time ago I wrote to this board telling readers about our project to transpose the written journals of a Pwllheli photographer onto a database.

Well that part of the project is 75% complete. I have searched the database for Daniel Caradog Evans and his son Alun with I think, some success.

11th Dec 1913 Master Alun Evans, address given as Arthrog.

Mr Alun Evans then has a photograph taken on 1st December 1916 and again on 23rd April, 1926. The address I have as Arthrog.

31st May 1916, Mr Caradog Evans, of Salem has a Sunday School Group taken.

3 weeks before on 11th May 1918, Mrs Caradog Evans has a group of seven taken.

Finally the photo which links them all was commissioned by Mr D Caradog Evans of Arthrog, High Street, Pwllheli, on 2nd January, 1928. The photograph is shown as Busts which I think will be head and shoulders.

So we have six entries on the database. We know that we only have about 75% of the negatives from the collection so we are unsure whether or not we will have all or any of the photographs. As I write this an 83 year old Welshman is busy checking to see if he has the negatives. If he finds any of them I will let you all know. Keep your fingers crossed.

Regards,

Peter
