Anyone ever heard of a place called Spity (given as birthplace on the 1881).

Dear Jojo,

It's a misspelling of Ysbyty, and is probably a reference to Ysbyty Ystwyth,
a parish and village about 4 miles south of Devil's Bridge on the B4343 road
to Tregaron.

Kind regards,

John
