Subject: [GWYNEDD] Admin "Great Granparents"

A "list theme" of posting details of all eight of your great grandparents has
been spreading like a virus on Rootsweb lists over the past few days. And it
has hit two out of the six lists which I administer.
I have no objection to people starting "themes" on any lists. "List Census"
"Brick wall" and "Great Grandparent" threads are good ways of encouraging
list mail and making connections - if the theme is relevant. But being
inundated by grannies from all over the place, most of whom have no relevance
whatsoever to North West Wales is out of order.
Please continue to send details of your great grandparents to the Gwynedd
lists, I would be happy if every list member responded, BUT restrict the
details to those with connections to Gwynedd.
The chances of finding a connection to a granny from Kent on the Gwynedd list
is very slim.
The chances of finding a connection to your granny from Pwllheli is lessened
if her details are hidden amongst seven people from without the area.
All the best
Alwyn
