Thanks, Gareth, and for
The CARDIGAN-Listers and MONTGOMERY-listers generally,
here's all I know of our children's paternal ggg-grandparents:

From family knowledge and 1881 Census:

Pendre Garth L(ower), Machynlleth:

EVANS, John 1846 Bookbinder CGN Langranog

" Catherine nee OWENS (Birth Cert. 20/3/1844) Machynlleth
children David John 1870 Llandyssul
Esther 1871 "
Elizabeth 1873 "
gg.grandf. Evan Owen 1876 Machynlleth
Humphrey Lewis 1878 "
Robert Thomas 1880 ".

From Catherine's birth certificate her own father,
LEWIS, Humphrey, a farmer at Felinllyfnant, Isygarreg, Machynlleth.

(Thanks to John & Shirley William) who found on the 1851 at
Ty Coch, Machynlleth
LEWIS, Humphrey Snr, a miller, with his wife Elizabeth OWENS (1808
Penegoes),
son John aged 9, our Catherine aged 7 and younger brother Humphrey (3)
!!

I combed the LDS film for Llangranog but couldn't find our John Evans -
but then I didn't have anything much to go on.
As I said, I discarded the marriage certificate because I felt a
printer/bookbinder would have been able to write his own name (and
read).
(This was way back in 1980s) - before I had a PC.

Still searching for ggg.grandfather EVANS John (1846) Llangranog.
Any and all help gratefully accepted.
Randi (Harrow)
