Dear Maxine,
A clue or two, Maxine, for you to follow.
John Sturley of Dale 1815 is the only will for that surname, but the records
show a John Sturley in 1781 married Anne Rees at St. Ishmaels.
Mary Sturley in 1768 married Thomas Stephens
Elizabeth Sturly in 1769 m. Thomas Gwyn
Margaret Sturly in 1767 m. William Stephens...all at St. Ishmaels.
There was also a Jane Turley who married Joseph Hill at Haverfordwest St.
Mary in 1759.
From the information you've provided it would seem that
at least Elizabeth (above) was John's sister, and Thomas Gwyn his
brother-in-law.
Rosemary May has done more work than I on the Davies
in which we both have interests, and will probably answer more generally
about St. Ishmaels records. The Roch family were in evidence on the one
small Land tax item I hold.
As to Wills....I could not find one for Thomas Gwyn.
I browsed, not very thoroughly, and found wills for:
Catherine Rees, St. Ishmaels 1805
David John Rees, STI 1640
John Rees STI 1852
Thomas Rees STI 1849
Jenkin Steeven STI 1634
Elizabeth Stephens, Dale, 1749
Frances Stephens STI 1849
Philip Stephens, Dale, Pemb.Presumed 1757
William Stephens, Hubberston 1776
Gelli Steven Hubberston 1623.
Of course Thomas Gwyn and the others may have left administrations or other
documents, but that is information I don't have, although Pemb. RO has the
index which covers wills and this other material, and you can obtain will
abstracts from the RO.
