What follows is a copy of the Wood family history written by Gertrude
Marshall in 1892. I hope this helps those others that may be researching
out this line.

Richard and William Wood were born in England. Their father was an
Englishman and their mother an Irish lady of distinction, being Maid of
Honor to the then Queen of England. Richard and William Wood emigrated
to America. Do not know where Richard Wood settled, but William Wood
settled in the State of Virginia. Richard Wood before emigrating to this
country deposited a large amount of money in the Bank of England as he
did not know whether he would like America or not and died here and the
money was never claimed.

Reverend William Wood, son of the above William Wood was born in
Virginia May 5, 1748. Sarah Stark (his wife) was born in Maryland June
12, 1752. Rev. William Wood and Sarah Stark were married September,
1768. Rev. William Wood departed this life July 11th, 1819 after
devoting 48 years of his life to the Service of his Lord and Master in
the Gospel, aged 71 years 2 months and 6 days. He was a Calvinistic
Baptist minister and died and was buried near Urbana, Ohio. His wife,
Sarah Wood died February 20, 1835 aged 82 years, 9 months and 9 days.

Elisabeth Wood, daughter of William and Sarah Wood married Dr. (Wm.*)
Goforth of Cincinnati, Ohio. Following are their children:
Pool, John, Jemina, Charlotte, William and Jefferson.
Pool and Mary Goforth were married--do not know date. The following are their
children:
Mary P. Mae and Jemina.
Residence Keokuk, Iowa.

John and Elizabeth Goforth married--do not know date. The following are
their children:

John and Mary, Residence Salt Lake City.

Jemina Goforth never married.

Charlotte Goforth and Samuel Lewis were married--do not know date. The
following are their children:

Henry, Joseph, William, Elizabeth, and Elmira.

Samuel Lewis, their father ran for Gov. of Ohio on the "Free Soil"
ticket and came within 5 votes of being elected.

Joseph Lewis, son of Samuel and Charlotte Lewis was a Methodist Minister
and married a Miss Carey of Oxford, Ohio. They had one son, Samuel.

William Lewis married a Miss Baldwin of Mt. Auburn. He is an Episcopalian

Minister and resides in New York City.

Elizabeth Lewis and her brother Henry never married.

Elmira Lewis and Judge M. B. Hagans were married--do not know date.

The following are their children. -
Samuel, Charlotte, Juliette, Marcellus, Elisha, and Broadwell.

Samuel Hagans married Dr. Carrick’s daughter of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Charlotte Hagans married a Mr. Buchner of Canada.

Juliette Hagans married Lieut. Tally Thompson, a graduate of West Point.
Christopher Wood, son of Reverend William and Sarah Wood resided at
Urbana, Ohio. Do not know who he married. (Mary Tennan 11-5-1796 Mason
Co., Ky.*) Had several children.

Phebe Wood, daughter of Rev. William and Sarah Wood married Dr.
(Jeremiah*) Shannon (5-8-l795*). They had one child, Mira. After Dr.
Shannon’s death his wife, Phebe, married Mathias Ross of Lebanon, Ohio.
They had several children, among them, Jesse, Albert and Mary.

Mary Ross, daughter of Mathias and Phebe Ross married a Mr. Boone of
Nakomis, Ill.

Sarah Wood, daughter of Rev. William & Sarah Wood married a lawyer,
William Coleman of Cynthiana, Ky. They had several children among them,
Napoleon, Ann, Elizabeth and Lewis.

Napoleon was one of the bright lawyers of Kentucky in his day.

Rhoda Wood, daughter of Rev. William and Sarah Wood, married Mathew
Reed. They had three or four children, Stark, Thomas and Rhoda.

Thomas Reed, son of Rhoda and Mathew Reed married a lady by the name of Wills.

Polly Wood, daughter of Rev. William and Sarah Wood married a man by the
name of Cochran and lived in Iowa.

Jesse Wood, son of Reverend William and Sarah Wood was born in Virginia,
Hay 26, 1779. Katurah Thorp (his wife) was born in Maryland, Sept. 22,
1778. Jesse Wood and Katurah Thorp were married in Kentucky Aug. 30,
1798 (Mason Co.*). Jesse Wood died Hay 6, 1857. Keturah Wood died Sept.
12, 1851. Following are their children.--

William W. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood, was married to Ann
Shelton, Aug. 2, 1821. Ann Wood, wife of William W. died Jan. 16, 1844.
William W. Wood and Mrs. Mary C. Phillips, (second wife) were married
Nov. 23, 1845. William W. Wood, died Dec. 25, 1851. Following are
children of William W. Wood and Ann Wood:

Samuel K. Wood,. son of William W. and Ann Wood, never married

Andrew W. Wood, son of William W. Wood and Ann Wood married Joanna
Parker May 1, 1854. They live in Aberdeen, Ohio. They have several
children, among them Sam and Ann I know of. (Ann m. -Clark - daughter
Leota Berry and Susan Applegate - Earl Applegate; Sam m. Nora Hutchinson
- Leona, 2 sisters and 1 brother.*)

Sam Wood, son of Andrew W. and Joanna Wood is married, is an Artist, and
lives in Cincinnati.

Ann Wood, daughter of Andrew and Joanna Wood is married and lives in
Kentucky. (Daughter is Leota Clark Berry*)

John W. Wood, son of William W. and Ann Wood married a lady and do not
know her name. Reside in Illinois. They have children, do not know how
many. William C. Wood, son of William W. and Ann Wood, married Francis
Moomow. (Moma*) They reside in Chillicethe, Mo. They have five or six
children, among them, Alice and Rose. (Mary Rose, John, Alice Ann,
Carrie Elizabeth, Nellie, Lilla Blanche and William Moma*)

Elizabeth A. Wood, daughter of William W. and Ann Wood, married Augustus
Sullivan July 31, 1853. - They had several children, among them, Anna
Bell, Alvina, Mary, Sarah, William and Samuel. Elizabeth, wife of
Augustus Sullivan died July 1891.

Anna Bell, daughter of Augustus and Elizabeth Sullivan married a
gentleman, do not know his name and died soon after her marriage.
(Charle G. Hooper*) Alvina (Melvina*), daughter of Augustus and
Elizabeth Sullivan married a Mr. Wormal(d*) and lives in Maysville,
Kentucky. They have two or three children.
Mary and Sarah Sullivan, daughters of Augustus and Elizabeth Sullivan
both married. Sarah since died.
William and Samuel Sullivan, sons of Augustus and Elizabeth Sullivan are
still single (at this writing).
Katurah Ann, daughter of William G. and Ann Wood, died with consumption
when 5 years old.

Susan K. Wood, daughter of William. W and Ann Wood married but do not
know her husband’s name and moved to Missouri where she died. (Newton
J. Hicks*)

Susan Wood, daughter of Jesse and Keturah Wood, married Samuel Kerr,
Sept. 12, 1822.

Samuel Kerr, husband of Susan Kerr was born Aug. 21, 1796. Died Susan Kerr
died . The following are the children of Samuel and Susan Kerr:

William, Mary, Samuel, Jesse, Thomas, Susan, Henrietta, James and Mary
Lizzie. Do not know dates of births or deaths of any of them.

William, Mary, Henrietta, James and Mary Lizzie Kerr, children of Samuel and

Susan Kerr, never married, nearly all died when children.

Samuel Kerr, son of Samuel and Susan Kerr married Elizabeth Chamberlain,
Oct. 1849. They have several. children and live at Shelby, Kentucky.

Jesse Kerr, son of Samuel and Susan Kerr, married Bettie Alexander,
Sept. 1850.
They had four or five children among them, William, Charlie and Bessie.

Charlie Kerr, son of Jesse and Bettie Kerr is one of the rising young
lawyers of Lexington, Kentucky. (Judge Chas. Kerr of Lexington*)

William Kerr, son of Jesse and Bettie Kerr studied for the Baptist
ministry, but owing to his health failing gave it up.

Thomas Kerr, son of Samuel and Susan Kerr, married Mary Chamberlain, a
sister of his brother Samuel’s wife, Nov. 14, 1854. They had ten
children as follows:

Sarah, Susan, Laura, Frank, Mary, Ezekiel, Jessie, James, Thomas and
Jennie Sarah Kerr, daughter of Thomas and Mary Kerr married Darius Moran
and had one little girl--do not know date of her death.

Susan Kerr, daughter of Thomas and Mary Kerr, married a Mr. Mason and
has several children.

Laura, daughter of Thomas and Mary Kerr, married a Mr. Chandler, have no children.

Mary, daughter of Thomas and Mary Kerr, married Darius Moran, her sister
Sarah’s husband, after her death.

Frank son of Thomas and Mary Kerr married a Miss Lucinda Slack.

Ezekiel Kerr, son of Thomas and Mary Kerr, married but do not (know*)
his wife’s name.

Jesse Kerr, daughter of Thomas and Mary Kerr, married Jesse Wilson,
April 5, 1893.

James and Jennie Kerr, children of Thomas and Mary Kerr, are not married
at this date, 1893.

Thomas Kerr, son of Thomas and Mary Kerr is dead, but do not know the
date of death.

Susan Kerr, daughter of Samuel and Susan Kerr, married Johnson S. Power,
Oct. 12, 1849. Johnson S. Power, husband of Susan Power is dead, but do
not know date of death. Johnson S. Power and wife, Susan Power had
several children among them, Jessie and James.

James is married and lives in St. Louis, Missouri.

Andrew T. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood, married Amanda Webb, Oct.
20, 1825.
Amanda Webb, wife of Andrew Wood was born Nov. 9, 1805. Amanda Wood,
wife of Andrew T. Wood died in 1866. The following are children of
Andrew T. and Amanda Wood:
Jesse, Joseph, Jesse, John Lewis, John Shotwell, William Thomas, Anna,
Keturah, Amanda and Bettie.
The above are all dead up to 1893, except Anna, Amanda and Bettie.
Anna Wood, daughter of Andrew T. and Amanda Wood, first married John
Avery May 3 1849 and they had one daughter, Callie, who married a
gentlemen by the name of Throne, and lived in Indianapolis, Indiana. She
died recently leaving her husband and two or three children.
Anna Avery, after her husband’s death, married a gentleman by the name
of Loving and up to 1893, is still living in Memphis, Tenn. where her
parents lived a number of years before their death. Amanda Wood,
daughter of Andrew T. and Amanda Wood, married Bud Borden. She is a
widow and still lives in Memphis.

Bettie Wood, daughter of Andrew T. and Amanda Wood married a Mr.
Maxwell. Her husband is a Pension Detective and is in the Government
employ and they reside in Washington City.

Sarah Wood, daughter of Jesse and Keturah Wood, married Ebenezer
Jenkins, 1836.

Sarah Jenkins, wife of Ebenezer Jenkins died July 15, 1859. Do not know
data of deather of Ebenezer Jenkins. The following are the children of
Sarah and Ebenezer Jenkins:

Jesse William, Susan, Lizzie, Andrew, Ezekiel, John and Jesse.

They are all dead but Lizzie, Susan and John.

Do not know whom Andrew, Jesse or John married.

Lizzie Jenkins, daughter of Sarah and Ebenezer Jenkins married a Mr.
Long and

they live in Indianapolis and have several children, part of whom are married.

Susan, daughter of Sarah and Ebenezer Jenkins never married and lives in Indianapolis.

Abigal Wood, daughter of Jesse and Keturah Wood, never married. She died
in 1881. 4• John T. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood married Rachel
Webb, a sister of his

brother Andrew’s wife, 1827. John T. Wood died August 21, 1864. Do not
know date of death of his wife. The following are their children:

John, Jesse, Frances, Ann, John, Lewis Webb.

John, son of John T. and Rachel Wood, is a Physician is married and has
two or three children, and resides in Boonesboro, Missouri.

Jesse Wood, son of John T. and Rachel Wood is not married. Lives near
Rocheport, Missouri.

Ann Wood, daughter of John T. and Rachel Wood never married and lives
near Rocheport, Missouri.

The remainder of the family are dead.

Jesse W. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood never married. He died May
13, 1844.

David T. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood married Mary Shelton a
sister to his brother William’s wife,) Oct. 3, 1839. David T. Wood died
March 22, 1847. Do not know date of his wife’s death. David T. and Mary
Wood had three children:
Louisa Ann, Thomas Moore and Jesse W.

Louisa Ann Wood is married and lives in Memphis, Tenn.

Thomas Moore Wood married a Miss Williams. He is a lawyer and resides in

Maysville, Kentucky. Jesse W. Wood is dead.

Joseph G. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood, married Catherine Stout.
Joseph C. Wood died.--Catherine Stout, wife of Joseph C. Wood, was born
July 7, 1816. Do not know date of death. Following are their children:

Sarah, Susan, Abigal, Keturah and William Henry.

Sarah, daughter of Joseph C. and Catherine Wood married a Mr. Rowfelty
and lives near Greenville, Ohio.

Susan, daughter of Joseph G. and Catherine Wood married a Mr. Marklan_
and has several children. Live in Sedamsville, Ohio.

Abigal, daughter of Joseph G. and Catherine Wood married a Mr. Aikman.
They have several children Live near Maysville, Ky.

Keturah, daughter of Joseph C. and Catherine Wood never married and is
now dead

William Henry, son of .Joseph C. and Catherine Wood married and is now dead.

Joseph C. Wood, son of Jesse and Keturah Wood after the death of his
wife Catherine, married Abigal Gray in 1848. They had one child, Mary
Ann who married and is now dead. Do not know date of deathe of Abigal
Gray Wood.

Caty Ann Wood, daughter of Jesse and Keturah Wood married George V.
Flaugher, Aug. 20 1835. Geo. W. Flaugher was born Sept. 16, 1813 and
died Nov. 3,. 1851. Do not know the dates of Caty Ann Flaugher's death.
Following are the children of Caty Ann and George Flaugher:

Abigal, Abi, Mary Ann, Ezekiel Henry, and John William.

Abigal, daughter of Caty Ann and George Flaugher, married Henry Moore
and had. one or two children. All dead.

Abi, daughter of Caty Ann and George Flaugher married William Booten.
They had one child, George, who is now married and a writing teacher at
Rocheport, Missouri. William Booten, husband of Abi Booten died and Abi
married a Mr. William Evans. She had one child, Mary Elen Evans who has
since died. Abi Evans married again. Do not know her last husband’s
name. She left: one child by her last husband.

Mary Ann, daughter of Caty Ann and George Flaugher married Rufus
Lanwell. They had two children, a son and a daughter. Mary Ann Lanwell
and her husband Rufus are both dead.

Ezekiel Henry, son of Caty Ann and George Flaugher is married and lives
near Rocheport Missouri and has three children, one a daughter married.
