Hello Renee: I saw your message below and wanted to drop you a note. I am
also researching my Wood family ancestors and have been unable to learn the
names of the parents of my gggrand-parents: Martin Wood and Lucretia (maiden
name, Andrews) Wood. Both of their parents are listed as having been born
in Connecticut. Martin was born abt. 1810 in Vermont and I believe Lucretia
was born in Ohio. They first appear in the US Census of 1840 in the Town of
Bethany, NY. After the Civil War they moved west and settled in Montcalm
Co. Michigan. They both passed on in 1888 in Michigan. Since your wood
family was also from Connecticut and later Vermont I thought I would just
ask if the names I listed above are familiar to you. I have been stuck for
some time trying to learn the names of either Lucretia's or Martin's
parents. I have more information on these folks if it would be pertinent to
your research. Thanks. Russ Wood

Subject: [WOOD] Henry WOOD-b.1753-Fairfield,CT=Lucy BOTSFORD

Am searching for parents of Henry WOOD, b. abt. 1753
in Fairfield Co., CT. He died 5 Jul 1821 in Vergennes,
Addison, Vermont.
He married Lucy BOTSFORD abt. 1773 in Newtown,
Fairfield, CT., dau. of Abiel Botsford & Abigail Kent.
CHILDREN:
1-Anner or Anna-b.14 Dec 1774 in Newtown, Fairfield
Married Tyler REYNOLDS-bef. 1800-of Addison Co., VT
2-Polly, b. 9 Oct 1776-Newtown. Died 29 Dec 1861 in
Ferrisburg, Addison, VT. Married Benjamin WARNER abt
1793 of Ferrisburg, Addison, VT.
3-Elisha Kent Wood, b. abt. 1790 of Vermont. Died 8
Nov 1836 in Morgan County, Illinois.
Married Emeline Marcia RUSSELL-17 Jul
1823-Carrolton, Greene, IL.
The father, Henry Wood, is bequeathed in 1778 a
saddle, horse and gun from Samuel Wood who died at
Valley Forge. Perhaps Samuel is related to him. In
1770 Henry names a Joseph Smith as his guardian.
Would appreciate any help with this Wood family and
would be glad to share what info. we have. Thanks,
Renee Harris
