REID, Elizabeth Mabel - Of Metamora, (formerly of Bromley, Kent, UK and
Reading, Jamaica, West Indies) died on 22nd of April 2005. Mrs. Reid was born on 12
September 1904 in Wick, Caithness, Scotland, the eldest child of the Rev.
William Alexander Ashby and his wife, Elizabeth. Her maternal grandfather,
Brigadier Frank Aspinall, introduced the Salvation Army to the United States in
1887, beginning in Detroit and later in Nebraska. On 30 September 1929 she married
William Edwin Reid in Walthamstow, England and subsequently lived in Scotland
and England until Mr. Reid's retirement when they moved to Jamaica. Mr. Reid
died in 1965 and Mrs. Reid returned to England in 1980. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her beloved husband, her daughter, Daphne Elizabeth Webb,
and her brothers Gordon and Stanley Ashby. She is survived by: her daughter,
Olive (Dean) Bedford; her grandchildren, Nelson W. (Sandra) Webb, William Dean
Bedford, Amanda Bedford and Kate Bedford and great-grandchildren Serena,
Samantha and Daniel Webb. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be
scheduled in May at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Grand Blanc. In lieu
of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Salvation Army, Genesys
Hospice or St. Christopher's Church Memorial Garden Fund.
