Leon D. Christopher

Services for Leon D. Christopher, 84, of Athens, Texas are scheduled for 10
a.m. Wednesday at the Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn
Parker officiating.

Private burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Christopher died June 20, 2005, in an Athens hospital.

He was born August 19, 1920, in Henderson County, to Benjamin Alfonzo and Jo
Pye Christopher.

He graduated from Athens High School in 1939, where he played football. He
attended Lon Morris College in Jacksonville on a football scholarship and
was a graduate of Sul Ross College at Alpine, where he also played football.

Mr. Christopher served in the United States Army for 20 years, retiring as a
Lieutenant Colonel. Following retirement, he immediately started work for
the Central Intelligence Agency. After 10 years, he moved to the Burroughs
Corp. division and fully retired in 1984. After living many years in
California, he married Mary Lou Harvey and moved to Athens in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Lori Miller
Christopher.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.



Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Harvey Christopher.

Honorary pallbearers are Ed Sapp, Frank Roup, John Scarbrough, Jim Tom
Meredith and Jack Meredith.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home.

If desired, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Building
Fund, P.O. Box 911, Athens, TX 75751.
