back and lengthy recovery. Upon discharge in 1945, he went to Hallettsville,
Texas, married Lucille on September 16th and returned to Indiana University.
Upon graduation with an accounting degree and a two week old son, the young
family moved to Dallas where Ben worked for a year before moving to Austin
to be an accounting instructor at the University of Texas. In the late
1940's he became an accountant at the Texas General Land Office. Another son
and two daughters were born in Austin. He became an accountant for the Right
of Way Division of Texas Highway Department in 1957 where he worked until
retirement in 1980. Upon retirement Ben became an active golfer, spent more
time on the couple's lifelong enjoyment of bridge playing, visited with
friends and family and traveled. He participated and served in various
offices in his church, St. John's Methodist, his Masonic Lodge, Colorado #
96, PTA, Cub Scouts and various job related associations. Ben was a founding
member of the Public Employees Credit Union. He was preceded in death by his
