ELGIN,TX -Lena Klaus Sippel, 102, of Elgin, Texas, passed into eternal life
with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 17, 2005. Mrs. Sippel was born
March 31, 1903, in Washington County, Texas, one of five children born to
August and Mary Leseman Klaus. At age 3, Mrs. Sippel moved with her family
to Elgin, Texas, where she resided for 99 years. Mrs. Sippel grew up on a
farm, was educated in a one-room schoolhouse, and has been a member of
Elgin's First Baptist Church since 1915. In 1928, she married Herman Sippel
and after his death in 1954, she worked as a cook and dietary aide in
Elgin's Fleming Hospital, where she learned the importance of a healthy diet
and good nutrition. Mr. and Mrs. Sippel had no children, but she is survived
by her only nephew, Dowell Peterson, his wife Katherine Peterson of Houston,
her great-nephew Richard Peterson, his wife, Stacey, and great-great-niece
Amanda. She is also survived by many friends and extended family members who
loved and cared for her dearly. The family will receive friends on Sunday,
June 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newby/Jones Family Funeral Home in
Elgin,TX. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 20, at 10:00 a.m. at
the Elgin Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Newby/Jones Family Funeral
