Deborah J. Carr left this earthly existence unexpectedly during an acute
illness due to cardiac complications. Debbie was born to James and Dorothy
Carr in San Antonio TX on July 30, 1953, becoming the middle child of three
girls. She lived in Filey, England, as well as in Corpus Christi, where she
graduated from Mary Carroll High School. She graduated with a BA in
Psychology and a BSW from the University of Texas at Austin. Austin became
her "home." Debbie was married to Michael Goacher and experienced a brief
stint as an Army wife in North Carolina. The couple moved back to Austin
after Michael's discharge and subsequently divorced. She then met the love
of her life, John Chandler, who always went above and beyond the call of
duty to help her when she struggled. Despite divorcing, they remained
friends and she left all her worldly possessions to him and most probably
her heart as well. Debbie was well known in the legal community, having
worked as a paralegal for Arenson & Spears, Terry Belt, Stephen Counts, John
Drolla, Kevin O'Hanlon, Polk Shelton, Bobbie Earl Smith, Suzanne Spencer and
as a court clerk for Travis County. While her job history is too long to
mention, Debbie also worked for many years at the Armadillo Christmas
Bazaar. Debbie was a life-long Democrat and liberal who believed in the
freedoms of choice, speech and the Great Society. The family will celebrate
Debbie's freedom from pain in a private ceremony after her cremation. Those
wishing to honor Debbie can make a memorial contribution to any organization
that speaks to the causes Debbie loved, political or charitable, Contact
Keith Taniguchi for information on the public memorial service.
