William Russell "Bill" Fromberg, Jr., born October 12, 1929, in Corpus
Christi, Tex., to Mr. and Mrs. William Russell Fromberg, grandson of Dr. and
Mrs. W.E. Carruth of Corpus Christi, passed away in Austin, Tex., on June
12, 2005. Bill moved from Corpus Christi to Austin TX at a young age,
graduating from Buda High School in 1946. He was employed by Reese Lumber
Co., and Steck Printing Co. until he began his 38 year career at Montgomery
Ward in 1950. Bill retired in August of 1988 and moved with his wife Dixie
to their beloved Lake Buchanan home on Shaw Island, Bluffton, Tex. Bill was
an avid fisherman, he was the founder and president of the Colorado
Limbliners Association. He was an active member of Buchanan West Baptist
Church in Lake Buchanan. He loved the Texas hill country and shared that
love with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was
the gentle giant of our family and the calm stillness in which he lived will
leave ripples in each of us that he left behind. Bill was preceded in death
by his daughter, Laurel Ann Fromberg, grandson, Nicholas Russell Fromberg,
and nephew, Rob Wheeler. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife,
Dixie C. Fromberg; son, William Russell Fromberg, III; step-son, Jay
Godfrey; step-daughter, Cindy Balkwill; grandchildren, Laurelynn and
husband, Michael Hansen, Shawn Fromberg, Heather and her husband, Bryan
Wilson, Jimmy Godfrey and wife, Kim, and Claudette Godfrey;
great-grandchildren, Adysen Hansen, McKenzie Wilson, Taylor Godfrey, and
Hope Fromberg; sister, Diana Doris and husband, Bill Wheeler; and niece,
Diana Wheeler. He will also be missed by many good friends and his beloved
Maltese, Reunion. The family would like to express special thanks to dear
friends Rilda and Charles Scarborough and to Tommy Millsap for their love
and support and the wonderful neurologist and ICU team at Brackenridge
Hospital. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2005, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.,
at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, June
15, 2005, at 10:00 a.m., in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden/ Capital
Parks Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks
Cemetery.
