Alvaro "Al" Ramos, Jr., passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2005, in Austin TX.
He graduated from H.M. King High School and received a B.S. in Business
Management from the University of Texas at Austin. Al started his career
working with a finance company in College Station where he met his future
wife. They married and moved to Austin where he worked with the State
Comptroller of Public Accounts for 23 years and retired as a Supervisor in
the Claims Division. He was a founding member of the Mexican American
Comptroller Employees Association (MACEA) in 1984 and a founding member of
the Amigos Club with St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Other
memberships include Board Member of St. Michael s Academy, Parents
Association at the University of Texas at Austin, Big Brothers/Big Sisters,
and the Southwest Optimist. Al was preceded in death by his father, Alvaro
Ramos, Sr. and infant brother, Alan David Ramos. He will be sadly missed by
his loving wife of 28 years, Lydia Guajardo Ramos; sons, Scott Eric Ramos
and Jacob Lee Ramos; mother, Mrs. Aida Ybanez Ramos; sister, Mrs. Anna McBee
and husband, John; brothers, Alan Ramos and wife, Alma, and Albert Ramos and
wife, Erica; nieces, Melanie and Jennifer McBee, Bianka and Vicktoria Ramos,
Demi and Erin Ramos; nephew, Isaak Ramos; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins
and a host of friends. The family would like to extend a special thanks to
the doctors and nurses at Seton Medical Center, South Austin Hospital, and
St. David s Hospital for their care and support. An extended thanks to Dr.
Howard Marcus and Dr. Stephen Beathard and for all the nurses and staff at
Capital Dialysis Center and to his former co-workers at the Comptroller s
office and close friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to
8:00 p.m., on Monday, July 11, 2005, at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral
Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Celebration of Mass will be
at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic
Church, 4800 Convict Hill Road, with Father Oliver Johnson, Celebrant.
Interment to follow services at the Cook- Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions in Al s memory to
MACEA or BACE Scholarship Fund with the State Comptroller of Public Accounts
or St. Michael s Academy Scholarship Fund.
