James S. Douglas 73, of Traverse City, MI, formerly a 43 year resident of
Clawson, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005. He was born October 30, 1931 in St.
Louis, Missouri.
Mr. Douglas worked for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a fireman in the
1950's until the steam locomotives were replaced with the modern diesel
engines. He spent the remainder of his career as a machinist, 24 yrs. for
Davis Mfg., Clawson, later at Valenite, Troy, and retired from Allan Tool &
Machine Co., Troy, MI after 13 years.
He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Jewell (Clendening) Douglas.
Surviving is his son, James H. (Joan) Douglas of Clawson, and daughter, Mary
(Gregory) Webster of Macomb. Grandchildren, Jason (Amanda) Douglas, Royal
Oak, and John (Rebecca) Douglas, Sterling Hts., Step-grandchildren Gregory
(Robin) Webster, Warren, Shannon Downs, Shelby, Jessica (Jarrod) Short,
Okemos, Charles Webster, Novi and his special friend Lila Cain of Traverse
City. Visitation 4:00 to 9:00PM, Monday, Aug.15 at Gramer Funeral Home, 705
