Melvin E. Putnam, 69, died July 16, 2005 in Round Rock, Texas. Visitation
will be 5:30-7:00 PM, Sunday, July 17th at Providence Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 3 PM, Monday, July 18, 2005 at Taylor City
Cemetery with Pastor Raymond Williams officiating.

Melvin Ernest Putnam was born July 28, 1935 in Knippa, Texas to Earl Eugene
Putnam, Sr. and Bessie Blanche Sissel Putnam. He married Barbara Kaatz on
June 5, 1960 in Thrall, Texas and they had one son. Mel served in the United
States Navy as a radar man aboard the USS Salisbury Sound. He was a member
of the VFW Post 4443 and served as commander from 1969-1970. Mel was a
member of the Austin C B Radio Club, the Emergency Team, and Captain in the
Austin Aqua Festival. He was also a member of the National Campers and
Hikers, Capital Campers Chapter, and the Longhorn Wheelers Chapter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Mel is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Putnam of Round Rock; son,
Russell Putnam and wife Lisa of Georgetown; three granddaughters, Debra
Putnam, Catlynn Putnam, Kirsty Putnam of Georgetown; a brother, Earl Putnam
of San Antonio; and a nephew, Steve Putnam of CA.
