Lorain "Larry" Asbury Payne
Lorain "Larry" Asbury Payne, 76, of Colorado Springs died of cancer Friday
at his son's home. He was the owner and operator of Paine Transfer &
Storage, now Daniels Moving & Storage, Inc., for 25 years. Memorial services
will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Masonic Temple, 1150 Panorama Drive, with
members of Masonic Lodge 76 officiating. There will be cremation. Blunt
Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., is handling arrangements. Mr. Payne was
born Feb. 7, 1910 in Green City, Mo., and had lived in Colorado Springs
since 1930. His parents were the late Benjamin and Sarah (Smith) Payne. Mr.
Payne was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was past worthy
patron of East Star Victoria chapter 28 in Victor, a member of Masonic Lodge
76, and a member of Silver-Key Senior Services and Fish, a Silver Key
agency. He was married Sept. 16, 1933, in Colorado Springs to Josephine
Huff, who survives. Other survivors are a son Larry of Colorado Springs; a
daughter, Nancy Roy of Victor; a brother, Smith Payne of Colorado Springs,
three sisters, Thelma Long and Mary Strutton, both of Colorado Springs, and
Wilma Vanwey of Florence, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Masonic Temple Building Fund, 1150
Panorama Drive, Colorado Springs 80904.
