Elaine:
I read your notices in the German Volga newslist I belong to, and didn't
know how to include one for the recent passing of my father.

SCHEUERMAN _ Victor 1918 - 2006 Mr. Victor Scheuerman, born August 19, 1918
in Leader, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully at the Colonel Belcher
Veterans Care Centre on Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the age of 87 years at
Calgary, Alberta.
He was predeceased by his wife Esther (Schimpf) and one grandchild,
Jonathan Shem Layton. Victor will be lovingly remembered by his children:
daughters, Vicki (Dave) Engel, Marg (Bob) Layton, Linda (Gerry) Belyk, Sandy
(Bob) Matthews and Wendy (Ron) Tippett; sons, Hugh (Kathryn) and Bruce. He
is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Vic was proud to have served overseas with the South Alberta Regiment in
World War II under David Currie VC, liberating parts of France, Holland,
Belgium and Germany. After his return from the war he worked at the Calgary
Brewing and Malting Co. for thirty-six years. In the early 1960's he was a
founding instructor of Alberta Hunter Training, and was awarded life-time
membership by the Sarcee Fish and Game Association. Vic was also awarded the
Order of the Bighorn in 1985 by Alberta Premier Don Getty. One of his
greatest joys was to take a loaf of bread to the Elbow River and feed the
ducks and geese. For many years he volunteered at the Special Needs Annual
Fishing Derby. Big Vic's love of the outdoors touched many. Those wishing to
pay their respects may do so at COMMEMORATIVE SERVICES FUNERAL HOME (5502 -
2 Street S.W., one block East of Macleod Trail and 53 Avenue S.W.) on
Sunday, April 16, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held
at Grace Baptist Church (2670 Radcliffe Drive S.E.) on Monday, April 17,
2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Chaplain Philip Costain officiating. Reception to
follow. A private family graveside will be held in the Field of Honour at
Queen's Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Colonel Belcher Comfort Fund, or to a charity of your choice in Vic's name.
Condolences may be forwarded to Victor's family through
www.commemorativeservices.ca .
In case you would like to include it now, I give my permission.
