John K. Edwards Passes Away on 80th Birthday. John K. Edwards, a former
resident of Colorado Springs, died Sunday morning on his 80th birthday in La
Junta, Colo., where he had lived for the past 20 years. Born October 9,
1869, in Kansas, he had made Colorado Springs his home for 40 years prior to
moving to La Junta. During his lifetime he engaged in farming and was at one
time, a teamster. Funeral services will be held from the Law Drawing Room at
11 am. Wednesday with Dr. W.G. Schaefer officiating. Burial wil lbe in
Evergreen cemetery. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Edwards
of La Junta; a son, J.W. Edwards, 2005 W. Colorado Ave., two daughters, Mrs.
Alta Howard, La Junta and Mrs. Katy Newcomb of Oregon; three sisters, Mrs.
Minnie Hoffman, 501 E. Willamette Ave., Mrs. Tilda Mead, Washington and Mrs.
Josie Cadle of Pueblo; a brother, Joe Edwards of Portland, Ore.; 13
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
