Lynn Marlin Adkins, 75, 175 Richardson Hollow Road, Elizabethton, died
Monday, March 27, 2006, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City.

Mr. Adkins was a native of Erwin and a son of the late James Gourley and
Lena Adkins.

Mr. Adkins served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired
in 1988 from the Tennessee Department of Employment Security following 32
years of service. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion,
Kingsport. He was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church.

He leaves behind a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Jean and Mike Whitlow,
St. Louis, Mo.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, James Lynn and Ramona
Adkins, Woodbury, Marlin Dean and Mary Anne Adkins, Newport, and Lee Michael
Adkins, Unicoi; and three grandchildren, James Lynn Adkins Jr., Birmingham,
Ala., Michaela Diane Adkins and Andrew Michael Adkins, both of Nashville.

The funeral service for Mr. Adkins will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday,
March 30, at Ninth Street Baptist Church with Rev. Rob Moor officiating. The
family will receive friends at the church from 12 noon until 2 p.m.
Thursday, prior to the service time. The graveside service will be conducted
at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with
military graveside honors. Those attending the graveside service will meet
at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Friday. Online condolences may be e-mailed to
