Melvin Brumley
Melvin J.C. Brumley, 71, died Wednesday, February 14,2001 in Gregston
Nursing Home in Marlow, OK.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 16, in Family Worship
Center with the Revs. Daniel Gilbert and Gary Pratt officiating. Music was
by Daniel and Lisa Gilbert.
Burial was in Rush Springs Cemetery under the direction of
Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home.
Mr. Brumley was born April 20, 1929 in Baileyboro, Texas, the son of M.A.
Brumley and Effie Leona (Odom) Brumley.
He and Norma Jean (Norell) Brumley were married in September 1960 in Lawton.
She died April 3, 1996.
He had lived in Rush Springs OKmost of his life. He attended Oak Dale and
Keachi schools. He had worked in Rush Springs OK as a barber since October
of 1963. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the army.
He was a member of the Family Worship Center.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Teel.
Survivors include 3 sons, Steve Brumley and his wife Robin of Rush Springs,
David Woodal and his wife Terry of Ninnekah, and Wayne Gray and his wife
Teddye of The Colony, Texas; a brother Joyce Brumley and his wife Lillian of
Rush Springs, six sisters, Francis Long of Rush Springs, Evelyn Maines of
Grand Prarie Texas, Thelma Painter of Springdale Ark., Jessie Dalrymple of
Rush Springs and Reva Scheaffer of Idabel; six grandchildren, LaDawn,
Renaie, Amanda, Duston, Mikael and Jarrod and five great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Walker, Gary Bray, Lee Roy Sweat, Toy Coffman,
Darren Southerland and Darrell Willis. Honorary bearers were Dick Blaine and
Joe Kuntz.
