Arthur S. Whetstone, Sr., 78, passed away on Saturday [29 Mar 2003] at his
home, after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Jackson
County. He was a lifelong resident of Wellston. He is preceded in death by
his parents, Roy and Mamie Whetstone, and several brothers and sisters. He
is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ona Detty Whetstone; four sons, Sherman
(Vickie), Larry (Shannon) and Gary (Nicole), all of Wellston, Dennis
(Cheryl) of Jackson; one daughter, Gloria (Eddie) Collins of Wellston; 12
special grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother,
Everett, of Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral
services were held Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the J. P. Rogers Funeral Home with the
Rev. Jack Hughes officiating. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memory Gardens in
Coalton. Calling hours were observed on Monday 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
