Laverne J. BUHR, 72 years of age, of DeWitt, Neb., passed away at his home
Wednesday morning, June 14, 2006. He was born April 14, 1934, in Beatrice,
Neb., and lived in the Beatrice and DeWitt area most of his life. He
attended Fairview country school until the eighth grade, and then received
his GED. He had served in the Nebraska National Guard and served his country
in the United States Army from Oct. 4, 1955, until Aug. 26, 1957. He and
Janice L. HEIST were married June 17, 1978, in DeWitt. He was a farmer most
of his life and had also worked at the Crete Mills in Crete as a miller for
30 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt. He
enjoyed farming and reading books.

Survivors include his wife, Janice; two brothers, Gilbert BUHR and his wife
Judy and Dennis BUHR and his wife Beverly, all of Beatrice; sister, Murrene
CRAMER and her husband Dale of Cortland, Neb.; several nieces and nephews
and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruno
and Marie (IDEUS) BUHR; and an infant sister, Viola BUHR.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the
Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 N. Quince, DeWitt, Neb., with the Rev. Kenneth
Kramer officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, DeWitt,
Neb. The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the
Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel, Sixth and Washington streets in Beatrice, and at
the church one hour preceding the service. A family prayer service will be
held at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. A memorial has been established
with Gerald Rehm and Ervin Beerenstrauch in charge. Messages of condolence
may be sent to: . They will be forwarded to the
family. The Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in Beatrice, Neb., is in charge of
the services.
