Eugene ``Gene'' Terhune Rose of Lynnwood, formerly of the Eastside, died
June 22, 2004, at Manor Care in Lynnwood. He was 87.

Mr. Rose was born May 6, 1917, in Ballard and moved to Bellevue-Highlands in
1919. He was an Eastside resident for more than 60 years and graduated from
Highland High School in Bellevue in 1935. In 1938, he married Virginia
Peterson who preceded him in death. His companion of 20 years, Virginia
Davis, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Rose retired from the transportation department, Bellevue School
District and the Lake Washington School District where he was known as
``Rosie.''

He was a member of Trail Blazers and AAA. and was an avid hunter, fisherman,
traveler and gardener. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his
special friend, Helen Marie Kent of Kirkland.

His family recalls that he was never too busy for anyone and was always
ready to lend a helping hand. Devoted to his family and friends, he was
known for his gentleness, patience, laughter and humor.

Survivors include his sons, David Rose of Redmond, Gary Rose of Harbor
Beach, Mich., Ron Rose of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and John Rodgers of Everett;
daughter, Cheryl Rodgers of Shady Cove, Ore.; sisters, Helen Peterson of
Edmonds and Charlotte Rose of Edmonds; 14 grandchildren; and numerous
great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
