McCullin, Vivian Lucas

Vivian Lucas McCullin, 93, of Cameron,TX died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the
home of her son. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, at the
First United Methodist Church in Cameron TX. Burial will follow in the Oak
Hill Cemetery. Family visitation will be Friday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00
p.m. at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home. Mrs. McCullin was born January 24,
1910 at Minerva, Texas to Grover Cleveland and Mary Belle (Gibbs) Lucas. She
attended grammar school in Minerva, graduated from Rockdale High School and
received her teaching certificate from Mary Hardin Baylor University. She
taught school for one year in Carmine, Texas. She married A. W. McCullin,
Sr. in Minerva,Texas on September 21, 1930. A.W. and Vivian founded Mack's
Oil Company in 1931. Vivian was very active all her life in the business and
continued operating the business at the death of A. W.
She was a life long Methodist and joined the First United Methodist Church
in Cameron in 1939, where she served in numerous capacities. Vivian was a
member of the History Club, served for many years as a member of the Cameron
Hospital Auxiliary, the United Methodist Women, as a Sunday School teacher
and a Cub Scout Den Mother. In addition to her husband, one son, Grover C.
McCullin, two brothers, Hugh Lucas and Clayton Lucas and two sisters,
Mildred Lucas House and Gladys Lucas Cundiff, preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Albert McCullin, Jr. and his wife Doris of
Cameron, one sister, Margaret Lucas Francis of Troy, Ohio, four
grandchildren, six great grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
