email - ^ ^Elisha Knight Gunn was born 25 Dec 1840 in Dalby
Springs, Bowie Co., TX the son of Francis Bennett Gunn (born 2 Oct 1818) and
Martha Christian Dalby (born 16 Sep 1817). On 1 May 1886, Elisha married
Martha Bryon Terrell who was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Joel M.
Terrell (born 3 Dec 1811) and Mary Nelson Davidson (born 5 Dec 1815).
Children of Elisha and Martha Gunn were: ^
1. Kate Gunn who married W. M. Larimore; ^
2. Tony Gunn who married A. W. Simmons. ^ ^
Martha Bryon Gunn received a Texas Confederate Pension #49055 from the State
of Texas for his service in the Confederate Army in Co. A, 27th Texas
Cavalry, CSA. ^ ^
>From the records of Lamar #258 United Daughters of the Confederacy: 'He
served in Co. A, 3rd Field Legion, CSA.' [This is obviously incorrect] His
daughter, Kate Gunn, born 30 Aug 1876, in Paris, TX, who married a Latimore,
joined the United Daughters of the Confederacy in Paris under his record. ^

THE Paris MORNING NEWS, Tuesday, October 2, 1923: 'Elisha K. Gunn, an old
resident of Deport and one of the most prominent men in the southeast part
of Lamar County,Texas died at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home in
Deport,Texas. He would have been 83 years old next Christmas and was in
declining health, but he had not been confined to bed more than a week. Mr.
Gunn first lived in the Biardstown community after coming to Texas and was a
brother of the late Capt. W. T. Gunn, ex-sheriff, whose home was at
Biardstown Texas. He was engaged in farming for several years at Biardstown
TX and continued farming after moving to Deport TX. He is survived by his
wife and two daughters; Mrs. A. W. Simmons and Mrs. Will Larrimore, both of
whom reside at Deport TX. He and his wife were making their home with Mrs.
Simmons. He is survived by a number of nephews and nieces. The funeral will
be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon and burial will be at the Deport
cemetery.'
Elisha was buried at Old Deport Cemetery in the Row 17 South Section,
between W. H. Parchman and Lizzie Turner
