Bremond "Red" McCright, age 92, of Austin,Texas passed away there on March
6, 2009. Bremond was born January 3, 1917 in Manor, Texas, the sixth of
eight children of Willie H. and Mary Lena McCright. He graduated from Manor
high School in 1935 where he played 5-man football. After high school he
attended the University of Texas for one semester before going to work full
time. Bremond was in the Civilian Conservation Corps and later joined the
United States Navy Seabees during World War II serving in New Guinea,
Manila, and the Philippines were he set up hospitals, officer's quarters,
and drove troop carriers. Before starting his own business, McCright Air
Conditioning and Heating, he worked for UT, J.R. Reed Music Company and
Calcasieu Lumber Company. Bremond is survived by his wife of 68 years,
Elizabeth Harris McCright and children, Betty White and husband Gary, David
McCright, Roger McCright, Karen Magness and husband David all of Austin and
grandchildren Jeff White, Michael and Jonathan McCright of Austin, Brittany
and husband Ken Chestnut of Dallas, and Tyler Magness of Lubbock. He is also
survived by one brother Dale McCright and wife Annie of Austin. Bremond was
preceded in death by his parents, grandson Gregory White, daughter-in-law
Linda McCright, and siblings Mamie Fleming, Susie Gardner, Mozzelle Stagner,
Inez Stewart, W.C. McCright, and Cheryl Carline. The family wishes to extend
a special thank you to the staff of Heartland Nursing Center, Asera Care
Hospice and Westside Church of Christ. A visitation will be held from 5:00
p.m. - 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Cook- Walden/ Capital
Parks. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, March 8, 2009,
at the funeral home. Interment to follow at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks
Cemetery.
