Mary Esther Cockfield McCollum, 65, died Friday, March 6, 2009.
Born in Columbia, SC, Mrs. McCollum was the wife of Jimmie L. McCollum and
the daughter of the late Woodrow and Johnnie Bradham Cockfield. She was the
former owner of Pickwick Beauty Salon and co-owner of House of Roffler Hair
Styling Salon. She was a member of West Gantt Baptist Church.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by three daughters, Susan
Hilkert of Seneca Falls, NY, Tammy Thompson and her husband Rusty of Belton,
and Dowana Barton and her husband, John of London, England; two sons, Jimmie
L. McCollum, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Belton and Thomas Hilkert and his
wife, Debra of Donalds; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a
niece, Linda and her husband, Larry McCollum, Jr., and their two children; a
sister, Margaret Sperlazza of Auburn, NY and a brother, Carl Cockfield and
his wife, Debbie of Piedmont.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2009 in the
chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held from
5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the funeral home. Burial
will be Greenville Memorial Garden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 W.
Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680.
