Searching genealogy, if you're serious, takes time and is a lot of work, but
being organized helps. My method may sound like extra work, but I've found
previously unknown lineage because I save posted messages and e-mail, and
filed it so I can find it.

I print interesting, informative messages and correspondence from the posts
and e-mail, and place them in folders. I have a folder for each of my
ancestor's surnames, one folder for states, one for ships, and one folder
for all my individual family trees. This one is handy for checking who's
related to who, or a quick look-up of a name, date or location.

Now, when I'm reading a posted message or searching the Web, if I see
something familiar, I can look through my folders to connect it.

In this way, I now have linked to Mayflower Pilgrim Gov. Wm. Bradford, Eli
Whitney and the Wright Brothers, although very remote.

What I found to be more important than "being related to..." is the history
of my ancestors quest for religious freedom, and the hardships they endured
obtaining it. This is my inheritance, and I'm writing their stories for my
children and grandchildren.

Good luck and happy hunting, Cathie in California []
