John Clarke, I do not know if I received you response or not, but it is
kind of prophetic because, you wrote July 23, 2000, the date I gave my
husband a surprise birthday party on Thompson Island, in Boston Harbor.
He is the 10th great grandson of David Thompson the first owner of Thompson
Island in the early 1600's. The Crisseys and Wrights, could possibly be
from Vt. Our Thompson's seem to have gone from England, MA, then NY, although
possibly some to VT. We can't get any further than Ransom Wright, although
the AmerGenBioIndex has a reference from the Boston Transcript, in the
early 1900's that refers to Simon or Simeon Wright, as the father of Ransom
and Cyrus. Our Ransom named a son Cyrus, born Schoharie County, NY. Cyrus
named a son Ransom in the same county. Can you enlighten my search. C Perry
Wright married Helen Crissey in McHenry County, IL. She descends from Ambrose
& Minnie May (Thompson) Crissey. The Crissey's go back to William Crissey
from England to Salem, MA, early 1600's. Minnie's parents are Dewey and
Rosalia (Wright) Thompson. Rosalia is a granddaughter of Ransom. C Perry
is a great grandson of Ransom. So you see it gets quite convoluted. Also,
Ransom married Elizabeth Thompson, a 5th GreatGranddaughter of above David.
My husband has David Thompson as a GGrandfather three times. Sometimes
its 9th and sometimes its 10th. In his tree from William Crissey I see
Clarissa Grosvener mar. Alvin Crissey, also Lucy Grosvener mar. Samuel
Crissey, I. Some of my information came from Jeannette "Teeter" Grosvenor,
who is associated with the Chardon Library, Geauga County, OH, and this
is where Ransom and Elizabeth Thompson's parents died and are buried. I
do not know if Teeter is related to the Grosvenors you mention. Reply back
if anything strikes a cord.
