Hello Lillian,

Saw your query and thought I would respond to the list with what I have on this family.

My records list 1816 (year of death) Andrew Wright of Nelson County, Virginia, (place of death) as a son of William Wright (Amherst County,
Virginia) and Esther (_____) Wright. This is based on Amherst County Deed E/240 in which William Wright and his wife Esther gifted (sold
for 5 pounds) 200 acres of land to Andrew Wright. This deed is similar to other deeds in which William and Esther gifted land to their
sons, including 166 acres to their son Robert (D.B. A/85), 180 acres to their son James (D.B. B/327), 100 acres to their son-in-law William
Hibit (D.B. B/328), 200 acres to their son John (D.B. B/326), and 420 acres to William Wright, Jr., for a similar five pounds (D.B. E/421).
Although Andrew and William do not have a relationship stated in their deeds, the similar and nominal price of 5 pounds for their land
indicates a gift. A second deed for 99 acres to James Wright was also for the nominal sum of 5 pounds (D.B. F/198).

In 1788 and 1789 William Wright, Sr., was listed as tax free in the Amherst County Personal Property Tax Lists and in 1801 he gifted a slave
Ned to his wife Esther (D.B. I/316). That is the last record I have found for him and thus the uncertainty about his exact year and place
of death.

I would be happy to share information about this family with other interested researchers and would also appreciate hearing from anyone who
might have information on the origins of this William Wright (Amherst County).

Best wishes,
