Hello Diane,

Roll Call is done on many list but I have declined the option on all the
list I maintain.

My reasoning, which is supported by the majority of members on all my
mailing list is this; A surname without details that are known is simply
that...a surname. Many people including myself simply delete a message that
has the words Roll Call knowing it will have nothing but a name or list of
names.

I recommend the procedure required by a Rootsweb sponsored list as this:

SURNAME Location date of birth place of birth married date of death and
children if known. i.e JONES Berkeley WV 1835-1890

The subject line must NOT contain the words Roll Call. It must contain the
SURNAME and/or some identifying information.

A mailing list is for the entire membership, and I encourage the frequent
posting of family data that pertains to Berkeley Co., WV.

Good luck,

Barbara Bonham, Listowner

Would it be possible to have a roll call on this list. It was done on
another
rootsweb list I am. People just put down the main surnames they are
researching in Berkeley County. Or, are there just too many on the list for
this to be effective?
