As printed in the Maryland Gazettefor Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Funeral services fr Alfred Paul"Jake" Custer Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. at the Reasner Funeral home, 1515 Charles Street inWellsburg, WV> Mr. Custer, 69, of Severn died of lung cancer Feb. 3 at the BaltimoreRehabilitation Extended Care center He was born April 18, 1932, in Beech Bottom, WV, and graduated from Wellsburg High School. Heserved in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Custer was captain in the Wellsburg police department and wasa member of the Fraternal Order ofPolice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Paul Custer Sr.and Helen Marie Bash Custer. Survivors include three sons,Edward Paul Custer of Stevensuite,Kenneth Robert Custer of Severn,and Wayne Garrett of Colliers, WV,;one daughter, Helen Marie Custer ofWellsburg, and six grandchildren. The Rev. Larry Grimes will conduct the services and burial will be in Parkview Memorial Gardens in Wheeling, WV.
