Hello!
I faintly remember an early pioneer PAINTER family and homestead located on
the other side of the Brooke/WV/VA line - in Washington Co., PA - and
perhaps Independence Twp. Supposedly their mansion still exists or did so
in the 1990s. There is a street address of the Painter name as well.
Please don't quote me on that - as it could also be Jefferson Twp. Wash.
Co., PA.
Back in the 1990s local genealogy organizations had a descendant who spoke
on the lives of these early settlers and he also had the PAINTER name.
Good luck,
Julia
