I have a problem in NIcholas Co., and hope for help from fellow-WVians.
James Philander and Sarah W. B. PATTESON died while visiting kin folk in
Appomattox Co., VA in 1862. They owned land in Nicholas Co., which is listed
as
"estate of..." etc. Can anyone tell me how this was distributed? This
would be after 1862, and possibly later than the usual case due to the War?

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

P.S. This name is correctly spelled without an R.
